Iconology - The Word

  • The left panel is symbolic of the sun. Traditionally in astrology, the sun is the power drive, vitality, personal power, and the ego. The Sun in a transformational context turns experience into consciousness. The sun then is the power of awareness. Alchemically the Sun transforms the lead of Saturn, the experience of limitation, into the gold of awareness of life.
It is the center and power of self, the person’s purpose and direction in life, the principle of self-actualization. Life’s potential is symbolized by the Sun, defined and focused by Saturn.
  • The center panel includes two quotes; one from the Mircea Eliade’s book the “Sacred and the Profane” and the other from “Gospel of Thomas” found in the Nag Hammadi Library. The bottom image is the first page of the Old Testament.
Awareness (a non-judgmental seeing of what is) is the key to transforming life from a profane space into sacred space where everything in one’s life is perfect even though the mind would like to think otherwise. Now is where life exists. Before and after are not life, they are thought. “The Word” is transformational when you look for the truth in what’s being said or read. When listening goes on without agreeing or disagreeing, we cross the threshold into a new space and what I would assert, is sacred space.

The words from the Gospel of Thomas bring to light the fundamental transformation of the being to Being where there is no more conflict between polarities, male and female, and there is resolution of the 2 that then become one. This is the fundamental work of alchemy.
  • The right panel is from the vision I had a number of years back. It is an accurate description of what I saw.
